Last nite I was playing this guy who's no 1 in my region and he's much fitter and he started F-ing around and hitting shots that bounced ridiculously high like boasts you would give a person who's never played that land in front of me while I'm in court centre and I wasn't confident enough to flat nic it so I kept trying to wrong foot him with my trick shots. None of them really worked. Well worked well enough to win the rally, he is no 1. Anyone got any good trick shots they play? Also don't give me advice saying cream the ball to the back of the court, hold and play a really good drop shot etc I tried all that stuff and he's too fit he gets it back and gives me another shit shot to do whatever with.

Why is he getting the opportunity to play these shots ?
I would suggest it is more about your game than his, as much as you might not like to hear it if you keep the ball long and tight you will not give him a chance to attack with such shots, clearly he is not going to be able to play them from the back corners, yes ?

You are never going to beat him trying to "out trick him wiith trick shots" watch your videos the pros rarely use trick shots not even Power, its boring but it is always length, width and pressure that wins out in the end.

I suggest you turn off the court heating, turn the air con to max and see if he can retrieve a cold ball from his pop-up shots.
Or just frame him with your racket for taking the p*ss Wink

To be playing this guy in comp I'm thinking you must be somewhere remotely near his level and if his shots really are as loose as you say and you can't pressure him or win rallies I would suggest you need to do some work on your short game. Could be that this guy has it mentally over you more than anything - which can be the hardest thing to overcome. Relax and just carve out some nicks against this clown lol.

Na he's way out of my league. He's the top of the line and I'm only at the top cos I'm lucky. He can just get everything back. Oh well I don't care about it anymore it's just frustrating being given a chance to play any shot I want and having it returned to be set up again.

no it wasn't just boasts it was like I'd hit a drop and he'd return drop with a shot that went 2m in the air bounced over the service line for me to do whatever with.

Have you tried taking a short swing, so he must come forward to cover your drop, then flicking it deep 4,5,6 times then dropping? If this does not work, then you are not doing it well enough, and you have the perfect environment to practise it.

Your shots only need to be tight and good, not nicks. If you play this tight enough it will beat anyone up to the very top pros.

He's only been playing 4 years and got a game of Dan Jenson last yr when Dan was still top 30, 40. Have I tried it- I'm like the master of it.

I never said he beats me 3 0. I said he's better than me and good enough to toy with me. I usually get a game. And on that occasion I did get the first game. I am the master of that one shot. Not the master of every shot. Otherwise yes I would probably have won. Steve me and Hagesy insult each other all the time as friends. Like hey anthony your mumma is packing that heat. He's like my idol anything between us too is because were BFF.

Benny, i am pretty sure if nathan wanted too he could zip you. Just like he could to me as well. The dude is just another level above my man.

Nice work on getting a game of me as well last night, i am sure that is the first game you have got off me in fixtures. I think you worked me into some form but finally, good to get back to playing well after those few niggling injuries.

The dude is toying with benny hitting a big boast, which is just asking to be smashed into the nick, and benny is to cowardly to crack the ball in to the nick. = pussy to me. Your not going to get good at shots if you choose not to play them.

I'm pretty sure he couldn't. I'm pretty sure if you two were both playing your best you'd get a game. It is the first. You played shit house and were slow off the block which helped me get that big start in the first. I just can't hit nics as well as you. I will practice them maybe. For all those curious I it was 9 all in the first and your hero here desperately saved game ball to send anthony the wrong way in the next rally. First game ever bitch!
