But surely the english players are not getting paid 4,5,6,7 hundred thousand US dollars to play knock around county cricket ? _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |

From BBC Sport:
England cricket fans can be forgiven for the IPL passing them by so far as no England players are involved in it because it clashes with the start of the county season and the English Test summer.
England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff is currently in India with the England Lions team as he continues his comeback from a fourth ankle operation and he has been amazed by the frenzy the IPL has generated.
He said: "It's hard not to follow it because it's in all the newspapers and television over here.
"But the IPL itself is not something I'm particularly interested in because it clashes with our English season." |

Thanks Steve, I read from that Flintoff must be getting paid a mottza to be able to shrug his shoulders at a probable 1million US for 6-8weeks work playing IPL, what about english players recently retired or on the fringe ? I see some Aust state players have even been picked up and getting around 200,000 US as a sign on fee !
Is there more to it in England I wonder have they been banned to play perhaps ? _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |

| I think it's a fair bet that participation would conflict with their County/England contracts. The non-internationals won't be on big money, but it's only the internationals they'd want. The undertone of Flintoff's comments is surely "I'd really love to go but the *** won't let me ..." |

But they picked up a retired Langer and a state player in White from Aust.
Who from England has recently retired from international duties and is just knocking it around in county perhaps, or someone near their end like Gilly who retired from international to be available for IPL and pick up close to a million US ? _________________ ........ noone hahahaha Our australia B team- our australia C team would beat england. Our state sides beat them in the practice matches when they were over here. We narrowly lost the ashes in 05 and won 5 nil in 07 setting the record straight. Australia undefeated in all World Cup ODI's for the last 13 yrs almost. English cricket are stupid for not getting behind this. The auctioning makes cricket more like the English soccer, allowing bigger money for the players. Can't wait to watch it. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

I'm afraid that if South Africa and England keep their strongest seam attacks fit Australia will soon be relegated to #3 in the world.
1st: Sidebottom, Flintoff, S Jones, Broad or Harmison, Panesar.
2nd: Steyn, Ntini, Morkel, Kallis, Harris.
3rd: Lee, Clark, Johnson, Cullen
1- Aus, 2 - Eng, 3 - SA on the batting stakes... _________________ Adam Hildred
