Can anyone tell me if there is a results service in New York other than the results going up several hours after the matches? Eg. is there a live scoreboard that I can't see? Why isn't Squashsite / PSAlive there this year? |

The mcwill court is very weird...they have reversed the wall colours for some reason Any particular reason for this? Or is blue the new green. |

For a supposedly big tournament for no squashsite or psalive to be covering this is a disgrace. Any ideas why this is not happening Steve ? I emailled psalive and they just gave me an answer about it being up to the promoter - is that the same with you Steve also ?!?
They might as well hold it on the moon - the official site hasn't even mentioned the event has started |

While we didn't really consider covering this event onsite - we just can't afford to go everywhere - the record of the promoters in last year's "secret" village open didn't help.
All we're getting is results - at the end of the session - so we're grateful for the efforts of Jim Wellington, Jos Aarts and Steve Line.
Since covering this event is costing all of them and ourselves money, we don't think we're doing a bad job, really, and to be fair, is probably pissing off those promoters who do support us ... |

| The stranger thing about all of it is that they did a fairly good job promoting the tournament. They put out a couple of good video clips, one with John White and Ricketts, the other one about nobody knowing who Julian Illingworth is although he is the Top American Player, the web site was well organized, they covered it in the Squash Magazine published by the USSRA and then they turn around an provide almost no coverage,,, it really is a shame. |

| You'd think a player or spectator would step into the void here and do the trivial amount of work. It doesn't take much effort to 'berry Steve the result of a match as it finishes...I could deal with not having a blow by blow, but having to wait until tomorrow to find out who won is rather annoying...I promise that if I'm ever at an event with coverage this poor, I will send Steve the results of each match after it finishes. Given his steady hand on this website, I'm sure the world of squash fans wouldn't have to wait too long to find out after Steve himself did. |

Other than the Gaultier-Willstrop match, I can't find the quarterfinal scores anywhere around the web. Its as if the results are a closely guarded state secret. As for the official US Open website, what the heck is the point of creating it if you're not going to post the results? Never heard of such a thing. _________________ "Drive for show, drop for dough." |

Shabana retired down 2-0 with a sore achilles tendon, Matthew beat Lincou 3-2, and Ashour was up 2-1, but slightly down in the 4th at the time Squashtalk signed off at 11:30 NY time...beat Beachill in 5 as per this site.
Too bad...as much as I like Ashour, his winning all the time will get annoying when he becomes more dominant than Federer, and Beachill is someone that I'd like to see climb back up the rankings. Ashour couldn't lose to a nicer guy than Beachill...as it stands, with Shabana and Gaultier out, Ashour is likely to romp to the title. The best matches of this tournament are already over, I'd say. |

wow...shab out. I guess we don`t have to wonder much about next months rankings unless he gets his act in gear before Saudi.
I think Darwish v Willstrop will be good, but all in all you may just be right Canuck. I would really like to see Willstrop find some good form and break into the top 3 again. If he could snag this, or one of the big events coming up it would be refreshing in the midst of all the Ramy buzz. |

There is one slight problem here - the quarter-finals started at 11pm UK time, so even if I did get a results feed from some kind person, I wouldn't really fancy getting up three times in the night to do the updates !
Having said that, it would be a doddle to make our scoreboard available for the event, so that someone there could update either pointy-by-point, game-by-game or match-by-match.
Not much point in offering that facility to the organisers, since we haven't received a single report, photo etc from them, so the chances of them providing a connection, laptop and volunteer are slim to none.
But if anyone is seriously interested ??? |

| More than fair point on the time difference, Steve. But even this forum could offer someone the opportunity to keep others in the loop if they had some sort of wireless internet access. That wouldn't involve you getting out of bed several times during the night, which absolutely goes well above the call of duty. |

| Good point - maybe we should set up a "xxx tournament latest" thread for people to hook into, then it could be linked directly from the home/tournament page ........... |

I read that Gaultier didn't shake hands with Willstrop after the match , not a very good role model for us juniors hey?
Whenever I have seen him play he constantly argues with the referees after nearly every decision, it's sooo annoying!
I wonder when he'll start acting like the number 3 in the world... |

| Ok, I added a thread, and a link to it from the US Open page, so let's see if it works ... |

I agree about Gaultier.
Every time I have have seen him play his attitude and manners were abysmal.
I'm taking some juniors to the semis tonight and I have to be honest, I'm glad he lost! |

This is a very dissapointing situation, what on earth are the "promoters" ( I use that word carefully) thinking ? _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |
