I recently started downloading matches from psalive.com. I also have seen the higher quality clips from squashlive.com, but the price is a bit rich per match (honestly, it seems insanely high).

Are there other sources I'm missing? I'd like higher production quality than psalive, but can live with it for the low cost.
At my level, it seems better to have 5 matches at a lower quality than one match that looks great.

Common problem I am afraid, as far as I have seen it is either or of the two choices you have outlined.

Again the lack of availability of good quality squash dvds at a reasonable price is is hampering the games wider penetration I believe.

I also know this problem, PSA live matches are farely cheap but the quality isnt that good, altough i love them havin co commentators like peter nicol, m. willstrop,...

And jean de lierre (squashlive.com) is doing a great great job. always recording with about 6 cameras. great quality!!! it is really worth the money.

I could offer you some matches from the EC 2006 in Vienna (Final ENG-FRA, Willstrop-White,..), good quality, 2 cameras, but no commentary.

If you are interested mail to christian.coufal@gmail.com.

greetings from vienna,
Christian

Try this link. Its free for me but for some reason, others have told me they need to pay. Tons of matches, some very good quality like 2003 English Open: http://www.guide-to-squash.org/pages/gam1/gam1.html

Oh, and get the Tennis Channel, should be possible since you live in California. Every few days they show the big events like Qatar, Hong Kong, Kuwait, English Open, World Open thanks to John Nimick.

I have purchased Squash Live DVD's in the past and I still watch them all the time, not only for entertainment but for helping me learn the game from the best players in the world. To me the cost seems reasonable. If you only watch them a few times then maybe the price is high.

Pedro, i know what you are talking about. I've got the SS Finals 2005 Palmer-Willstrop and TOC 2003 Power-Lincou and i've watched them over and over...

Jean's DVDs really are the best option, as far as quality. The quality of the PSAlive vids really is pretty poor. It's a shame, really.

Oh yeah, Palmer Willstrop was epic for sure. My all time favorite is Power vs. Nicol Super Series final 2003. The last point still gives me goose bumps!

I must admit, i thought the PSALIVE offerings were pretty poor to start with but recently I've downloaded some the DivX replays and they are amazing - it takes overnight to download the match but its almost like DVD and I won't be buying anymore DVDs now I'm getting DivX replays.

I have bought the squashlive dvds but they are way too expensive for what they are.

PSAlive wins for me. From 2005 on the quality is excellent. I can learn just as much from a PSAlive replay than I can from the squashlive games.
But you can`t rag on either of them in comparison. they really arn`t out to compete against each other. PSAlive is out to promote the game and get cheap replays out there. Squashlive is a full-blown broadcast quality outfit; and you pay for it.
If I was loaded I would buy the Squashlive games, just like if I was loaded I would have a 10k stringing machine in my basement.

I am not mark but I do agree with him totally

I found that the squashline stuff pretty bland at time, sorry americans but a DVD I bought last year has a american on there who is a hardball man and knows nothing about squash - that was when I decided to stop.

I really like all the different commentators that psalive seem to get and we always get lots of good information about the form of the players which I've never seen on jeans stuff.

I use something called VLC player (or I think its called that).

Just watched the British Open final (well some of it as i couldn't take it any more) and the quality i thought was poor. Out of sync with the sound and added to the terrible commentary from Gawain Briars, i had to give up half way through the 1st game.

Recently bought a DVD off ebay that had been taped from sky and it was 10 times better than PSA live and more enjoyable watching it in the comfort of my lounge on a big TV

huh. I have the BO final and there is no problem with the sound. I would guess that with a little work (updating the codex), you could have it running smoothly.

One more major point for PSALIVE that we haven't mentioned yet is that you can watch it LIVE!

Although I download most of the matches I buy from PSALIVE as replays, the matches i've watched live have been a lot of fun. I don't think many people would argue it's not more exciting live.

Don't PSALIVE offer a comm free viewing option ?

I remember something from around ayear ago when they sent commentary down the right channel and court sounds down the left - Give that a try

PS Gawain was ok but not the best I've heard

The DVDs that psalive do are briliant - the matches in their superpacks were all classics and you cannot object to the price at all compared to the overpriced others on the market for sure.

I agree, the quality is not top class but they are value for money, the biggest problem for me is that you cannot reply them on a standard dvd player, you either have to buy a divx dvd or convert them to dvd format, this is a pain in the neck.

You must have a divx dvd, most are not.

oh yeh, someone did say on the psalive forum that they played their divx matches on their tv using something clever and the tv makes the video just like tv quality

I must have 30Gb of matches now already - good that disk space is cheap
