|
|
Just been watching the BJO U-19 finals. The Egyptian Mohammad El Shorbaghy reminded me a lot of Jansher. He has the same uncanny anticipation and the deceptively lazy looking footwork. He was controlling the T for most of the match, and though Gregoire Marche tried everything, he still lost 0-3.
Considering the fact that he is not yet 18, he looks set to duplicate Ramy's feat of 2 Junior titles. _________________ Before I speak, I have something important to say- Groucho Marx |

I thinks its too late for him to be the next Jansher, maybe the next Ramy? Didn't Jansher win the World Open when he was 17? When's the World Open? Does he still have time? |

27 July-8 Aug, 2008 in Switzerland.
My comparison to Jansher was related to his game, and not to his tournament records. I doubt any player in today's closely competitive top 10 can hope to match Jansher's or Jahangir's records. Even remaining No.1 for 18 months is an amazing feat by Shabana _________________ Before I speak, I have something important to say- Groucho Marx |

You were closer the first time, its 22 months at the moment (he became #1 in April 2006 and has been there since). Probably go to 23 months tomorrow.

| If you picked jansher from the time when he dominated in the 90's and was in his prime, and placed him amongst the current crop of top professional squash players he would really get his arse kicked. no way would he dominate like he did in the past. still a class player though, but he dominated at a time when his opponents were not as good as todays players. still have great respect for the man......... |
