I have a slightly different problem with anticipation. I'd rank myself high on anticipation and 'cheat' too much but hanging back if I think the ball is coming back, or go up if it's a drop. 90% i get it right and save so much running.

So....what I want to do is stop cheating and do it old fashioned way. Sit on the T everytime and get some running and good workout, especially against weaker opponents so when I do run into a tough situation where I dont want to risk the 10%, such as 9-9 against a better player, I can learn to sit on the T and be ready to move to any corner. The problem is I suck when moving from the T to the corner if I don't anticipate.

What is the correct step by step technique without anticipation? hop and split step like tennis? how soon to move? how do i NOT anticipate? when do I move, when the ball is struck or how soon do i move?

Thanks

I have to agree with Bendi just keep anticipating, the whole point of successful anticipation is reading your opponents game and reacting quickly to what you see and read. If you want to sit on the T be on your toes but the first step simply depends where your opponent hits the ball. My take on movement and position is about fluidity, keeping a relaxed stance and a positive forward motion.

if you think your guy is gonna play a drop shot then take a step forward but don't move your weight forward ie lean in to start running just so you have the option of running back if he doesn't drop
