High DVD prices from squashlive? Indeed they are and we are so sorry for this... Not sure if many know that proceeds from dvds sales are used to subsidize the majority of productions you see posted on squashlive. If we didn't do this, those events would not have been filmed as they were and all we'd have for archives over the last 9 years would be highlights from semis & finals, great stills from photographers and Web Streams from Horizon Software. Furthermore, in exchange for the DVD sales rights, the programs we created since 2003 are given free of charge to PSA's TV program distributor and rights holder Pro Active TV, and to all the Networks we send the programs to in North America.
Can't ad much more here other then to thank allcontributors to SL, including the PSA for allowing us to go on, the promoters that have facilitated our access to their venues and have helped us anyway they could, and the Pro players who are collaborating with us on on & off the court because they know that the goal we pursue through the DVDs and TV programs is to enhance the sport's visibilty and its marketability.
Lastly but not the least, the matches we will be streaming from the Players Cup Series Final 08 in Boston in early March will be free. The only reason we can do this for the first time since the creation of squashlive back in 2001 is that the event isn't sanctioned by the PSA, therefore the Streaming rights were available.
Hoping that the transmission will be a success and it will lead places in the future, who knows maybe towards free programs made of the best matches from all major events regardless of their positions in the draw and for all to see, or maybe towards the Olympics...
With kind regards, Jean De Lierre |

Without a doubt in my mind, Jean DeLierre produces the best squash videos available. If anybody believes that he sits at the back of the court with a little camcorder and a microphone, you are sorely mistaken. If you haven't been to a tournament where he has filmed, he has a team of people helping him, a truck load of equipment to go with it and the time and effort he puts into it makes the purchasing cost of the DVD's he produces more than fair. I would gather his budget runs very thin and he has to pick and choose which events he can afford to go to.
We should be more than thankful to him and his 'helpers' for the first class product he makes for us. Without him, we wouldn't be getting half the videos we see today and constantly ask to see. |

Appreciate your valid reasons for the high price tag for your videos Jean but the business world is littered with great products that have priced itself out of the market. _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |

This doesn't exactly seem fair ... squashlive (Jean) go to all the expense and effort of filming the events only to be told by PSA that he must give away the programs free to other distributers if he wants to sell the DVD's |

Well I think you need to find a way to make things cheaper. I don't know if that's possible but if the DVD's cost only twice as much as other sporting DVD's I would've bought out every match you have. Yes they are excellent quality. Non squash players can watch the matches you produce which is important. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

Very much appreciate going to the trouble and getting a great squash product out there Jean, but Bendi is spot on, great as they are, they are none the less just too expensive. _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |

I decided I want one of the matches the other day but I doubt I'll be able to afford it til my birthday in October. It's fantastic what Jean is producing. Is their anyway you could get some of those matches onto TV? Have you tried approaching TV networks and selling them? The way you produce them squash could go from boring and non watchable for the average person to exciting like other sports.
PS. I love the descriptions you write for matches. Sextremely excellent writing skills. Did you do them yourself? _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

Looking forward to the coverage jean - I bought a squashlive dvd set in the past but since the psalive dvds came out - a pack of 4-6 matches cost less than just one of your matches, I cannot justify that to myself even though yours are produced in a nicer way.
Where is the schedule and information - if promises live coverage but how do i know when the matches are on ?
Good job you didn't choose hd dvd then
Steve - glad you finally sorted out the forum - Can I post anti-Robert Edwards comments yet or is that still banned ? |

No, you can't !
And no, it's not sorted ... we have some (maybe just one - new usernames keep popping up) who insist on posting advertising links. You may find the forum goes offline while I'm asleep. Or maybe it just disappears forever. That would be a shame. |

I just read your interview jean.
The person who did that interview looks as if he did the Robert Edwards (why I am so amazing) interview.
Who is this chap and could he interview me whereby my humdrum life is suddenly about my struggles against advercity and how I can out on top.
Jean you seem quite a confident person
