I think having pennant/league nights mid week that often finish after midnight is causing, some/many to choose not to play, is this the case in your comps ? _________________ ........ Squash is a drug - and remember there is always someone better than you........ |

I think a few guys feel that way in our comp (finishing late). Personally I'd rather play during the week because most people have something else on at the weekend.
Solution to the late finishes, smaller teams, earlier starts, use more courts if you can find them. Not sure how viable they are. |

What's the format for your leagues ?
Here in Northumbria we have five-man teams, played on two courts, starting at 7pm on weekdays.
The finishes aren't usually too late, but we have pretty much the same group of players from 10 years ago and people often aren't keen on playing away matches, and no-one likes going on last.
I think we should go for four-man teams, it has so many advantages - matches finish earlier, no-one goes on last, the match is never dead when you go on, you can all go in one car, etc ... |

Four man teams, home matches start at 7.30pm and they are all on the one court so finishes can be late. Especially as most teams show up at 7.35-7.45, take 10 mins to get ready, then take forever in between games. Some away venues are 8pm starts! Also, the away teams nights vary from a Monday through to a Friday (most are Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday though).
I've been home after 1am on occassion.
When I played in the UK it was 5 man teams on two courts, 6.45 start, finished by 9.30pm.
I prefer the early finish but it is good having all the matches on the one court so you can support your team mates. |

Maybe things should start at 6. an hr after most ppl finish work and that way I don't think many ppl will be playing til 12. I don't think anyone would want to play fri/sat or even sun nite for obvious reasons. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

| Problem is the centre's rely on revenue up until matches start. Cut that back by 1 or 2 hours and thats revenue lost. And most people work until 6, 6.30 these days (not me I hasten to add). |

Currently in Surrey, UK, 5 man team, two courts, start 7:30pm.
Games never start on time which doesn't help
We are usually done by 10:30pm. Then you are supposed to have a meal at that time and if you are the away team, it can be an additional 30 minute drive home. A long day
But I lovethis game _________________ England Squash Level 3 Coach.
