Anyone know what Palmer actually said at the BO to be awarded the conduct game? I'm assuming he called the ref and marker cheats from what has been written.

It was during the game against Grant. It's on squash site in Framboise's report on the match but she doesn't say exactly why the game was given against Palmer, only that he said something that must never be said on a squash court. Here's the link:

http://www.britishopensquash.com/today.htm

Even Palmer, after the game said it was an unnacceptable thing to say. As far as I know Palmer v Shabana is next round and hasn't been played yet.

They say it was conduct stroke at game ball, not conduct game.

Palmer was just messing with the refs... it must really be getting to him with how shoddy they are. He knew he could give up a game to Grant and win the match... Grant's not a threat to Palmer at all.

Ehh, 2002 World Open where you nearly took Powers eye out?

There have been far too many incidents of players' slipping during this BO. What's the reason, given that the floor is wooden?

Whatever, that was Power's own fault not Palmer's. Eh, buddy... I liked how Squash Canada put out posters after that showing Power's beat up eye with the caption... "Jonathon Power: World #1 - So the good players don't need eye protection?"

I don't see anywhere in the match report that says this incident was Palmers fault, in fact it looks like it was a slip. I also disagree with you that the 2002 Worlds incident was Powers own fault.

Regardless, the quote says its the first time he's made a major final due to injury, that is clearly incorrect.

Saying, "where you nearly took Powers eye out?" implies that he intentionally tried to hit him. If anything, it was Power's fault for getting in the line of fire or crowding a bit to try and take an early volley.

it was not all powers fault for being in the way, palmer has a very long and wide follow through on both forehand and backhand.......

The 2002 World Open incident was Palmer's fault alone. I have the DVD and have watched it hundreds of times, in slow motion, and from front and back.

Power was standing a body-width and a half from Palmer, and Palmer just let loose with a wild backhand follow-through (to about 1:30 on the clock dial and head high).

Power almost lost the eye, and was not allowed to fly for some time after.

What is odd about it is that those two usually play very close to each other and don't get hurt, but this time there was plenty of space and Palmer just let one fly.

If that type of follow-through were allowed, squash would be a totally different game.

There was no intention to harm in Palmer's swing. It was truly an accident, but Palmer's fault none the less.

If I thought it was intentional I would have said so, it was clearly an accident caused, as asdf said, by Palmers excessive follow through.

Palmer denied Power a chance to finish the match the next day before the final, showing that he is not much of a sportsman.

Obviously Palmer's swing is legal or power would have got a conduct stroke, or everytime Power swings at the ball he would get a warning from the ref. Having established that then it was Power's fault for being hit and also not having glasses on.

PS. did palmer say the F word. cos i do that all the time. just not when i play in the british open.
