I notice from Squashsite's final pictures that David Palmer used 2 different rackets. One was orange and the other black. Any close up picture ?
With David winning the British Open, Black Knight has chosen a perfect ambassador. |

Not sure of the exact point, but David changed the racket right at the end - it might even have been on James' first match ball ...

he had 2 different types of racket in his bag. one is a lot heavier in the head. but only 3 grams different in weight. he hasnt yet decided which one to go with. although i,m thinking he is airing on the side of the head heavy racket as he used this throughout the event, and also used a head heavy racket when sponsored by head.
david broke his racket just before the end of the match so had to swap. it appeared to be a lucky swap as the winning point came off the frame and died so james couldnt get to it.
if you notice that there is a peice of white tape around the shaft of the racket. this has the details written on to it of weight etc |

Unbelievable that he broke his lucky golden racket at 9-9 in the 5th, swaps it for the black one, then hits that unbelievable shot off the frame. Congratulations to Palmer, he's obviously not slowing down any at this stage of his career. 4 BO's is phenomenal which is more than Nicol and Power combined.

Hi guys,
Might as well jump in the conversation since I am working for Black Knight. The racquet that David Palmer was using throughout most of the British Open was the new Ion Storm, which will be David's new signature racquet. This racquet will be available September 2008 or maybe a bit earlier, always check our website at www.playbk.com for more informations. Here's an image of the 2 new Ions as you can see, on our catalogue page there is no spec yet for these 2 racquets since they are still in their late prototype stage. So the black racquet that he had for the last point was simply a non painted prototype with a white sticker on it for the specs. Usually when we are doing several test on a same model, we receive all the prototypes painted in black
I was at the Senior Squash Canadian Championship 3 weeks ago and I had a demo of the Ion Storm so that players could try it out. Only good comments so far, people really like the racquet and David too, there is only some minor tweaking to do before we have the final sample.

Great to hear from BK personally. Any possibility that the Ion Storm will reach the Asia market ? Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand market ? Would love to try a new brand.
Its wonderful that BK has won a great tournament i.e British Open with David as ambassador. Its time for thousands of David's poster printed using the racket.

I have never seen BK rackets anywhere except on eBay being sold from abroad.  |

Actually we have distributors (that I know of) in: New Zealand, France, Russia, Japan and Mexico. I am pretty sure we have something too in the UK, with the coming of David Palmer in our company we are going full blast internationaly. So I will keep you updated on how to get Black Knight racquets in the UK. I will get in touch with our international manager and have a list of distributors and countries that we are selling Black Knight products. But this is definately something that will take a big expansion in the coming years. |

Also I just talked to our international manager and he just confirmed with me that goode sports in the UK place an order for 700 squash racquets to be delivered in August. They are just starting and it is their first order so that is why Mad Dog you didn't really see any BK racquets in the Uk so far. But it is coming...in 2 months!  |

Looking at the BK catalogue would say there are far too many rackets in the range which is unnecessary. Most of the top brands like Dunlop, Head, Tecnifibre have about 4 main rackets and that's it which will cater for all types of play. BK is just too confusing, and i have to say they don't look much good either, sorry! Just my opinion of course.
I don't see BK making a significant impact on the UK market. |

What kind of nonsense is that. A large selection is confusing? The rackets don't LOOK much good.......are you kidding???

Certainly our racquets do not have a conventional look, that I have to admit, and sometimes people don't like the look of them and sometimes people thinks they are just wicked!
The large is selection of racquets in our catalogue is due for 3 reasons:
- 1st: We have classic models that have been out there in Canada for 4 years (C2C on page 08, Magnums on page 06 and the Quicksilver on page 09) but the rest of the world did not saw them yet and they are still very popular among players, so we don't want to put only the latest stuff, because what's old for certain persons is new for others who never saw Black Knight racquets before.
-2nd: We have quite a few models of racquets that are the same but with a different cosmetic, instead of having only 4-5 racquets as you mainline and everybpdy as the same racquets, well we have some different colors for the same model to make things more exciting, but for people who do not know our product they might think that there is too much.
For instance: the C2C White and Red are absolutely the same racquet, we only changed the colours. The New Magnums Frost, Corona and Lava are exactly the same racquet but with different strings and different colors, there is a slight change in the balance of the 3 racquets depending on the string in it. The Frost with the SNick Pro is an even balanced racquet, the Corona with the yellow SNick Micro is slightly more headlight because of the string is lighter than a regualr SNick or SNick Ti or Pro and finally the Lava is more head heavy, because the Powernick string is heavier putting more weight on the head.
The beauty in this is that if you like the Lava hot pink color and like the feel of the Corona, that is not a problem you just restring your Lava with SNick Micro. Also usually people have 2-3 racquets of a same model. Someone who like the new Magnum serie can have one of each color and have the same racquet he just have to put the same string in all the 3 racquets. This put diversity and usually people like diversity. So the new Magnum serie is after all only 1 racquet but with 3 different cosmetics and the C2C Red and White are the same racquet too, so it narrows down the selection a bit more. We do this because people wants something more unique, they don't want that their racquet look the same as their friend, something that you can't have with a company who has only 4 or 5 models in their top racquets line.
-3rd: We have all kind of different style of frames to suit your need. We have tear drop head shape, we have rounder smaller head shape with a bridge, we have thinner frame racquets larger frame racquets, we have all kinds. Unlike certain company that take the same mold and only change cosmetic and there you go, they based all their line on a same and unique mold and style of racquet and racquet head shape, we are not like that, we want to give our customer a broader choice of option not narrowing them down to only one choice and if they don't like it they have to go to another company, we certainly have a racquet for you in all our selection! |
