Someone please recommend some drills for consistent, tight serve returns. That's been a really crappy part of my game recently and I need to practice.

Thanks.

Obviously the best practice is to have somebody feed you good tight serves over and over while you return. But I understand this isn't always practical since you need to find somebody willing to work with you. Personally I've found that during solo practice you can work on improving your serve return, especially on the backhand side. Try standing around the back corner of the service box and hit volley's back to yourself, try to vary the hight and pace and focus in getting your feet in the right position that allows for a good shoulder turn.

Good point about the footwork and shoulder turn (elbow back). Thanks.

I guess part of my problem is anticipation. The tougher guys I play against know how to mix up serves really well. Tight off the wall, hard at my feet, hard to the nick behind the service box, hard at my stomach and some nice, high lobs that often catch the backwall/floor nick.

Best is just to get someone to shoot them all at me randomly.
