After a lot of problems finding new squash shoes and bad blistering, I was wondering if you lot wear two pairs of socks?
Do you use special sport specific socks, double layer or the no frills x3 pairs for £1.99? |

One pair of cheap sport socks bought at GoSport or Decathlon.
One thing regarding blistering, I think you are more exposed to it when I use a pair of socks for the first time. So I tried to use new socks for short and casual play only (avoid it for long training).

I used to get bad blisters constantly. Now I use one pair of cheap cotton socks and one pair of Thorlo socks on top of them. Not a single blister since. The Thorlo socks are great a wicking moisture away from the feet but I found they made my feet slip inside the shoe. Putting on a pair of cheap cotton socks before the Thorlos ended all that.
With blisters, it also helped me to make sure the shoes are dry before playing. I have two pairs of shoes and rotate between them. And they last twice as long! |

Just a regular pair of thick sports socks. Thorlos are ok... not a really a fan. _________________ Foster's... it's Australian for beer! |

I always wear two pair now: the inner one being a wicking material (not cotton), outer one being cotton.
This completely stopped the loss of large portions of the bottoms of my feet from tough match play or practice. _________________ Still keeping one principal object in view -

I alternate between regular cotton sportssocks and proper tennissocks,
but I must say i prefer to use proper tennissocks,
they wick away sweat better and offer more protection through cushioning,
my faves at the moment are new balance and adidas crew socks,
thorlos are nice but they are kinda pricey.. |

When you play squash frequently you will develop thick callouses in the high friction areas. These callouses will make it almost impossible for a blister to develop again. The solution is to play more squash to develop these callouses, type of sock is not the issue.
When I first started playing squash regularly I got blisters in the first few weeks, but now I haven't got one since then over 6 years ago. _________________ My Squash Profile

That may be case for you, Faraz, but everybody is different. I play 5-6 times a week, have very colloused feet (and right hand!) but every now and then, the callous detaches itself from the 'live' skin underneath with in turn causes rubbing and blisters. They are more difficult to get rid of because they are under the skin and are deeper, and you have to remove a lot of the callous to get to them. |

Sounds like you need to tie your shoes tighter.
