I noticed on the home page that Isabelle Stoehr had scored an "upset" over Samantha Teran at the Texas Open. Teran was seeded three places higher, but Stoehr is ranked two places above her in the May rankings. What gives? Do WISPA make all their draws so far in advance that at least a 5 place ranking swing could take place from the time of the draw to the actual event?

It's hardly a shocker. I guess the report exaggerates the headlines so we would read it?

I actually found the 27-0 score line a little disturbing. For a quarter final of a $27,000 event, this should be unheard of. Wee is ranked 21 in the world! How could she possibly get skunked like that by anybody? Was she injured? If she made a genuine effort and the result is a true reflection of the difference of playing standard, then WISPA has a long way to go.

27-0! injured or not. in my opinion no fellow sportsman or woman should 27 love a player. i agree the job needed to be done and then get off court fresh for you next match. but i think its a poor show to disrespect an oppenent in that way.
a little harsh i feel
most of you guys may disagree

Wispa do heir draws a month in advance, so there's almost always a renkings update in between the draw and the actual event.

I'll try to find out if there's anything behind that 27/0 scoreline (it's nt unknown for some walkovers or retirements to be reported like that)

I watched the match between Lengthorn and Wee. There was no apparent injury, I also wouldn't say Wee tanked the match, she seemed to be trying hard but was completly out classed by a better opponent.

Thanks Lucas. If you or anyone else there would like to provide some details on the matches (we're just getting the bare results) that would be much appreciated ...

As ranked 21 in the world, if I tried 100%, was uninjured, and lost 27-0, I would hang up my racquet and stop kidding myself. Maybe she had a bad day, but not to win one solitary point is ridiculous!!

I also disagree with Whitty - I do not think it's so disrespectful to win 27-0 in a professional match. The mental part of the game is very important. The next time Wee steps on court with the same lady, she'll have in the back of her mind that she couldn't win a point in their previous encounter. She would have already lost the match before it begins.

Totally agree. If it's your profession and you can beat someone 27-0 then go for it. What if she'd given her a couple of points and got herself injured? Then she'll wish she'd have won 27-0.

Someone ranked 21 in the world not getting a point of someone who is not even in the top few herself is ridiculous.

The thing with letting someone get a point is that they can then get 2, then 3, then 4... Then a game.

Being the master of losing games from being well clear, I can only imagine what it would be like to do it when there's prize money resting on it!
