| So from what I'm hearing is that both players got some very questionable decisions at the end of the match which could have sent it either way. I'd say just let it go, the players seem to have.... |

| The players can never say anything without being called names. |

i agree the 3 ref system on this occassion got it wrong. but thats sport. james isnt the kind of guy to moan about this. you win some you lose some.
as far as i,m aware the player hasa right to an explanation from the ref of the descion that has just been made. this is a problem if the main ref dosnt agree with the 2 assiastants. how can he explain if he dosn't agree. i saw this once at canary wharf, i think. i wont say the refs name but when asked to explain he kind of laughed and said i cant give a reason because i disagreed with the call. how do you answer that? |

| i cant see anywhere where a catastrophe is mentioned. i really dont think its practical for one of the side refs to make an explanation. this would create so much confusion |

How can anyone complain about James getting one wrong call, whether championship point or not?? Just finished watching it, and Palmer must have had 4 or so really suss lets that could have gone stroke either way as well. A fantastic match that had drama, great retrieval and shot making from Willstrop, mostly good sportsmanship from Palmer and great play from both. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

Because I wanted James to win and he would have done if that wrong call had been right.
It would have been a great story, back from 2-0 down to win is always a great story.

Did you read the rest of my message artard?? People who wanted David to win probably had more right to complain about him not winning it on earlier points. and no I'm not talking about that one where James plays a shit volley down the middle _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

a stroke is a stroke, match point or not thats the way it is. james had a blatant stroke which should have given him the match. the fact is that the refs bottled it because it was match point. palmer had a few suss lets as you say, but james should have got that stroke because it was a stroke in anyones book. so of course people would complain, watch the match again.......... |

Hi Guy's,
i have seen the match yesterday on Sky and i was stunned by the furious pace of this match for 5 games it was really enjoyable to watch,as for the referies...well always hard to tell,to me there was some strange decisions, but there is nothing you can do about it,both players had chances to win,and to my eyes they are both great champions, maybe David had a bit more luck on his match ball...but as James said that the way squash goes!!!
The semi Between Thierry and James was also a vrey fats and furious pace game....theses guys are just so good!!!
All the best FRANCK. |
