Would it be stupid to start up a 6 week fun season playing left handed just because you felt like it. I did it and the court owners put me halfway to the highest division and I got my butt smashed. Only managed 10 or so points each game in PAR to 31. It was still fun and not as taxing _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

I dunno. It seemed like a good idea if I was gonna be in the lowest division. I just want something new and honestly I had the most fun when I was improving all the time. PAR to 31 for 3 games Steve. It's just for beginners and fun. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

Then once you've learnt to play left-handed well what will you do then...? Intead of using your non-dominant hand, use an eighties racquet... something small, maybe one of the first non-wooden racquets. Maybe use a wooden spoon. _________________ Foster's... it's Australian for beer! |

I think playing with the non dominant hand can be fun! It also makes you think hard about aspects of movement and body position that you have to get right in order to hit the ball.
With the dominant hand, it's easy to get away with movement and positioning mistakes as the racket skills can compensate - on the weak hand compensation is impossible so precision of movement becomes much more important. |

Our head pro regularly plays entire matches against club members with his left hand just to make things fair. He runs so well that all he needs to do is keep retrieving the ball until the other guy runs out of steam. It doesn't look pretty and his "drops" are about 1 foot above the tin but he will beat 4-4.5 rated guys like this. _________________ "Drive for show, drop for dough." |

That's how I win most of my points. Keep getting back everything until I manage a good shot. It really puts movement into perspective and I think it's helping my right hand game. The other night I played a guy who usually beats me and He ended up with 4 points against me and he was really trying. But I felt I was moving better and just used to picking up everything. _________________ If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite |

Isn't it cos you're like ten feet tall and don't even have to run? _________________ Foster's... it's Australian for beer! |
